Our Programs
Arts Globo BrasilFest
All three classes work in collaboration. Students will have a chance to enhance their skills in these particular areas in a joint effort to direct, produce, film, and edit video projects by using their camera phones, iPad, and computers.
Offers opportunities for healthy interactions with our community fostering positive experiences for learning, creating, and providing intergenerational safe space. It includes opportunities to develop artistic and leadership skills, foster creative habits, learning mindsets, and develop a deeper sense of community connection using arts as a tool for social well being.
Video Production
The video production course will encompass the fundamentals of film production, interviewing/storytelling skills, social media platforms, and project management, all behind the lens of a camera.
Audio Productions
First, students will learn the basics of Audio and Digital Audio Workstations, channel strips, virtual instruments, processing, and more.
Song Writing
Song Sessions will be a beginner course on the subject of Songwriting. Students will explore the basics of song structure, lyric, melody and genre. There may also be opportunities to collaborate with Music Production and Video Production teams.
Our Teaching Artists
Rachel Sandy
Rachel Sandy is a passionate samba dancer who dances for Eduardo Mendonça & Show Brazil!, Raiz Brazil Seattle, and VamoLá.
Rachel embarked on her samba and samba reggae journey in 2003 in Portland, OR, under the guidance of Donna Oefinger of The Lions of Batucada. In 2010, her move to Seattle marked a new chapter where she joined VamoLá, showcasing her drummer and dancer talents. Her proficiency in Brazilian dances flourished through her studies with notable Brazilian instructors such as Jônia de Santana Dorta. Dive into the dances of Brazil, from earthy Afro-Brazilian rhythms like samba reggae, maracatu, and coco, to the lively energy of frevo, to the Portuguese circle dance ciranda. This creative class will teach traditional movements and offer playful dance games that encourage personal expression. After study, the kids will have an opportunity to create their own choreography. The highlight of the course will be two special sessions with Brazilian dancer Jonathan Batista, principal dancer at Pacific Northwest Ballet, providing an inspiring learning opportunity.

Christopher German
Christopher German (he/they) is an artist and educator with deep roots in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, WA. They have served the youth of color in a variety of roles for over 10 years in the Pacific Northwest by facilitating a culturally-tailored curriculum.
As an educator, Christopher is motivated by their own experiences to help foster the next generation of leaders of color. They are excited to teach the Digital Media class with Arts Globo and look forward to helping students produce stories and content that reflect their lived experiences. In their spare time, Christopher enjoys playing Capoeira, dancing, drumming, and spending time outside.
Ernest Laconic
Ernest Laconic Wingo, a teaching artist who focuses on concepts of music theory, music production, audio engineering, songwriting, and music business. Ernest teaches on how to edit, mixing, mastering, beat making, synth programming, and preparing students to get Avid Certificate. Ernest has strong background in electronics, music, and music production, long with an Audio Engineering degree, providing support for students to see a variety of options for themselves in music.
Terrence Santos
Terrence is also a regional Emmy Awardee for cinematography work on the 2013 documentary, The Otherside, premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival, capturing a window into Seattle’s Hip Hop music scene at a unique time of transition and growth. 2016, Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max Short Documentary is Terrence’s second premier at SIFF, this time as Director/Producer, documenting Food Network Chef Sam Choy’s role in the popularity of Hawaiian cuisine and as The Godfather of Poke. During this time he was also the Design Director of video production for the University of Washington Athletics marketing department. Producing and overseeing a diverse array of content for internal and external marketing campaigns during his 5 years with the University.
Giao Nguyen (he/him) is a Vietnamese-American actor, director and filmmaker based in the Seattle area. Recently, he graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Theatre Performance and a minor in Art: Digital Media. Notable acting roles include Gordon Hirabayashi in Hold These Truths, and Constantine in Big Love. Recent film works include: Ocean's Arrival (2022), The Mesmerism (2020) and Unseen Cualtzin (2019).
